Lonesome Hollow Honey

Products From Our Honey Bees

Our honey bees produce raw, natural honey and other products. Our bees forage on ranch land in Jack County, Texas. The area surrounding our bee hives are covered with native trees, grasses, and wildflowers. We harvest the honey as the bees fill complete honey supers (the top boxes on top of our hives). The raw, 100% pure honey is then bottled in small batches to meet customer demand until all the honey is gone. 2020 honey products are now available. We have expanded our product line with Ball Mason Jars in quart, pint, and half-pint sizes. Unfortunately, we were not able to harvest any honey comb this year.

Support Your Local Honey Bees

Did you know that the majority (almost 70%) of the honey in stores is imported? Also, studies show that a lot of the imported honey is not pure, raw, or unfiltered.  Our honey is 100% pure. We remove it from the hive and extract it from the reusable frames and natural honey comb within 24 hours. Then we store the processed honey in large containers to prevent crystallization. We bottle the honey in small batches as you, our loyal customers, request.

We appreciate your business and we are working on expanding our apiaries to be able to provide more high quality products for you. Lonesome Hollow Honey gathered honey from 5 hives in 2019. In 2020, we had hoped to triple that. However, with travel restrictions, weather, and the bees changed our plan. We went into winter with 20 hives. By January, we had lost one hive. In February, everything looked good and we were building new equipment to hopefully expand up to 40 hives.

Then Covid-19 showed up!  We decided to stay home and not travel back and forth to our hives in March and April. By the time we visited the hives at the end of April, we were down to 13 hives. Since this is only our 3rd year in beekeeping, we are learning that beekeeping is dynamic. Bees are unpredictable and wild. But, 12 of the 13 hives produced over 200 pounds of honey that we can share with you.
